Giving Back: The LeBel Foundation

In September 2021, Marge and I established The LeBel Foundation for the purpose of increasing the scope and regularity of our charitable giving. The Foundation is classed as a private foundation by the IRS, which granted it a 501(c)(3) tax exempt status.

Short Term Plan: The Foundation plans to continue donations similar to those we’ve made over the years, highlighting our special interest in animal rescue and animal shelter agencies. The Foundation’s grant making focuses on, but is not limited to, Western Michigan.

Long Term Plan: We plan to develop funding strategies that ensure maximum benefit for Foundation contributions. We want to build the Foundation’s net worth through aggressive contributions and moderately aggressive investing strategies. The Foundation’s goal is to survive us and become a strong resource in the future.

Donation Restrictions: As a private foundation, our grants are limited to fully-qualified charitable 501(c)(3) organizations or public entities.

Consulting Services (free): In addition, we have been especially interested in assisting community organizations to help them become more strategic and/or more effective in delivering services. Easy to do when we’ve spent most of our careers working for and serving on the boards of non-profit organizations.

Total Funding During 2024:  $42,598.99

Total Funding Since 2021: $98,395.65
